Stem Cell Action Coalition and Sam Schmidt Motorsports Team Up to Promote Stem Cell Research

Stem Cell Action Coalition races for cures on Sam Schmidt Motorsports Indy car.

WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Stem Cell Action Coalition and Sam Schmidt Motorsports have partnered to promote public awareness of stem cell research.

The Stem Cell Action Coalition logo was displayed on car #77 at the Toyota Grand Prix in Long Beach on April 17. The next sponsored event will be the Indy Grand Prix at Sonoma on August 28.

Sam Schmidt drove in the Indy 500 race (1997-1999) before he was injured in a 2000 testing crash in Orlando, which left him a quadriplegic. A longtime supporter of stem cell research, Schmidt provided a keynote address at the 2008 World Stem Cell Summit public education day.

The Stem Cell Action Coalition is a community of more than 70 organizations dedicated to advancing scientific research for cures. An initiative organized by Genetics Policy Institute, the Coalition aims to foster support for stem cell research and its translation into regenerative medicine and promote robust funding of basic research.
