PHOENIX–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Two-time Daytona 500 champion and race team owner Michael Waltrip recently stayed at the BEST WESTERN PREMIER Ivy Hotel Napa and went to work as a hotel employee for a day to get a taste of what it’s like behind the scenes at one of Best Western International’s 2,200 hotels in North America.
“My team and I travel around 100,000 miles a year with the racing circuit and are often times just in need of a nice, comfortable bed, high-speed Internet and a satisfying, free breakfast – all the things that Best Western offers its guests”
Since Waltrip and his team spend more than 150 nights on the road across the country each year chasing the Sprint Cup, Best Western has proclaimed Waltrip the “Ultimate Windshield Warrior.” While working at the BEST WESTERN PREMIER Ivy Hotel Napa, Waltrip was able to see first-hand what hotels do to make a great guest experience for fellow, at times weary, business travelers like himself.

“My team and I travel around 100,000 miles a year with the racing circuit and are often times just in need of a nice, comfortable bed, high-speed Internet and a satisfying, free breakfast – all the things that Best Western offers its guests,” said Waltrip. “Working at the BEST WESTERN PREMIER Ivy Hotel Napa for a day was a lot of fun but I realized how much hard work goes into running a hotel. Whether it was serving guests breakfast, getting a lesson in proper bed-making from the housekeeping staff or greeting guests as they check in and out, I now really appreciate all that goes into providing business travelers like myself with a great stay.”
As part of the “Ultimate Windshield Warrior” day at one of the chain’s 13 BEST WESTERN PREMIER hotels in North America, Waltrip served guests breakfast –- making waffles to order — and cleaned the swimming pool and exercise facility. He also made beds with a member of the housekeeping staff and greeted guests and ensured they were signed up for Best Western Rewards as they checked in.
Additionally, Waltrip sat down with Best Western business travel expert and blogger Chris McGinnis to discuss business travel tips to share with readers on YouMustBeTrippin.com. Waltrip also took time to sign autographs for many of the hotel guests.
